Somatic Movement = Pain Relief
At the age of 54, I began running again pain free! This was as a result of learning and consistently practicing Somatic Movements.
Like many, I had been diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, arthritis and a “compression injury” in my spine. Although these diagnoses threw me back, I was not about to stop living the active lifestyle that I have enjoyed throughout my life.
I was first introduced to Hanna Somatics in 2012-2013 through a yoga studio that I worked with.
I did not begin the practice myself, however, until early 2021. Incredibly, within weeks my chronic low back pain and hip pain disappeared!
I next experimented on my husband, and when he received similar results, I knew that I needed to add this modality to my repertoire and began the process of becoming a Certified Exercise Instructor with the Somatic Movement Centre.
Today, I offer life changing movement through one-on-one sessions, group sessions and online coaching.

My Yoga Story
I came to yoga in the early 2000’s as a stressed mother of two kids and a full time paralegal. Life was hectic and one of my kid’s teachers pointed me to a little book that taught me how to do sun salutations.
Sun salutations changed my life!
I continued to practice yoga on my own and in 2011 I signed up for and completed my 300hr yoga teacher training in beautiful Victoria, BC.
In the years that followed my certification, I went on to build a substantive yoga teaching practice, while still working full time in the legal industry.
After moving to Costa Rica in 2014, and then back to Canada in 2015 the practice became more refined and on a smaller scale.
In 2019 I began teaching yoga to a group on a weight-loss program and also dove in heavily to the chair yoga world.
In 2020, during the early days of COVID, I transitioned my teaching to the online world and in late 2020 became a certified Yoga Life Coach.
Marrying the practice of yoga with life coaching is a beautiful thing and I absolutely love to see my clients transform when they implement a regular yoga practice.
My Wellness Journey
I became a life-time member of a weight-loss program at the age of 10 and spent my entire life believing that I had a “weight problem”.
I spent my 30’s and 40’s running 1/2 marathons, climbing mountains, mountain biking, travelling and guiding others to do the same in an outdoor club.
Hitting my 50’s and menopause, I began to have struggles with my weight again and in 2018 I returned to the program and again reached life-time. This time, however, I joined the organization and became a coach in 2019 because I loved the fact that looking at habits, mindset and fitness were now a part of the big picture.
Enter COVID in 2020 and we are all on-line dealing with the “COVID-19 weight-gain”.
I have learned that in fact, I do not have a weight problem. I also do not have a food problem, I have learned that I have a long standing belief that these were issues, when in fact, I am just like everyone else and tend to pacify emotional issues with food.
Luckily, knowledge is key to this roller-coaster!
I am thrilled to be in a position to help others on their journey to becoming the healthiest person that they can be.
My Coaching Story
I remember being 14 years old when I first began to use visualization tools. When I was in my late teens and early 20’s I was fascinated with the mind and had a subscription to Psychology Today.
I have always been in awe of how the mind works and recall early in life being the person that people would come to for advice and just to talk.
In 2004 I was put into a teaching position and learned that in fact, teaching was my true calling. I went on to teach anything and everything that I could possibly teach and it wasn’t until my late 40’s and early 50’s that I began to realize that helping people to change their lives really was where I wanted to spend my time and energy.
Today, I am happy to help clients to find their path to their true calling and to build and manifest a life that they absolutely love!
